Borkum

Borkum is the largest East Frisian Island (32 square km) in the Lower Saxony Waddensea National Park (Germany). It represents the eastern end of the German Waddensea Islands. Borkum consists of two parts which were grown together in the last centuries.

Dune succession reached the stage of old grey and brown dunes with a maximum height of more than 18 m. Borkum has the greatest variety of biotopes of all East Frisian Islands.

after Dijkema&Wolff (1983) and Niedringhaus (1991).
